Photos about Human Resources

Packing M.T. parts at a depot for dispatch
National Library of Scotland
Truck-spares packing yard, France, during World War I. This little yard is a hive of activity with different jobs all being completed at once. Some men are working in their shirt-sleeves, while others are in full uniform and taking notes. There is a lot of human interaction and an atmosphere of concentrated effort in this shot. This sort of image would have made ideal propaganda. The scene implies that Britain has piles of resources, delivering them to the Front was a priority, and those at the Front were regularly receiving the supplies they needed - all very organised and efficient. The reality, unfortunately, was often a little different. [Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT IN FRANCE. Motor Transport work in France.
